Artisan Partners announced today that beginning on or about 8 January 2010 that it will no longer accept new accounts from employee benefit plans (including 401(k) plans and other types of defined contribution plans) and institutional investors. This is an amendment to Artisan’s partial closing of the firm’s U.S. mid-cap value strategy that was announced on 30 June 2009. Artisan may, at its discretion, allow certain pre-qualified employee benefit plans and institutional investors to fund their investments after 9 January 2010 if the new investments will not adversely affect Artisan Partners’ ability to manage the strategy effectively.
